Mission/Beliefs

The mission of the Kentucky School for the Blind is to provide comprehensive educational services to all Kentucky students who are blind and visually impaired, birth to 21.

We believe students who are blind and visually impaired…

  • can progress in school and achieve at high levels
  • have changing educational needs that must be addressed individually
  • have a right to be provided with the knowledge, tools and relationships necessary to build successful lives
  • can make successful transitions to post secondary education and/or work
  • deserve to be taught in a safe, comfortable, productive and positive learning environment by caring, competent professionals
  • are a part of a larger community of family, friends, school and community and that these  entities are integrally entwined
  • are important and positive contributors to society
