The Kentucky School for the Blind Food Service Department is a full service, on-site operation located in Jefferson County Kentucky.  Healthy and nutritious meals are provided for commuting and residential students from Louisville and through out the state.  KSB Food Service operates under the Child Nutrition guidelines for schools which include the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs.  Additionally the school participates in the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Commodities program.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner meals are served in the Hartford Hall Food Service Building.  Students are taught in Orientation and Mobility classes to navigate to the food service building at meal times daily as part of their educational school experience.  Those students having the opportunity to attend during the primary years are assisted by staff to learn dining skills in a family-style environment.  Older students receive any needed assistance to help them to manage more independently by, Offer verses Serve style similar to most and school cafeterias and some restaurants.

KSB food service provides a majority of the food and supplies for the classroom, dorm, and independent living cooking programs as well as healthy snacks for the classroom, dorm, and independent living programs.

Special events are celebrated regularly with special meals enjoyed by all diners including; sporting events, open-house style holidays, alumni gatherings and more.
