KSB Accepting Nominations for Distinguished Service Award

The Kentucky School for the Blind is accepting nominations for the 2017 Paul J. Langan Distinguished Service Award, which is given to a Kentucky resident or former Kentuckian who displays qualities that have had a strong, positive influence on KSB and on the lives of persons who are blind or visually impaired.

The award, established in 1992, honors Langan, who was superintendent of KSB from 1945-56 and whose innovative approach to education established the foundation for the continuing improvement of education of the blind and visually impaired students at KSB. The award will be presented on Tuesday evening, May 9 during KSB’s 175th Anniversary Celebration Dinner and Founder’s Day Program.

Statewide Countdown to 175 Essay Contest

In celebration of 175 years of service to students who are blind and visually impaired, KSB is sponsoring the Countdown to 175 Statewide Essay Contest.  The contest is open to all Kentucky students (K-12) and adults. Prizes range from $200 to $75. To access essay topics and submission details click on these links PDF format or Word format. MS/HS students should choose from this KSB list of names for their essay. 
Contest runs Feb. 1-Mar. 31.
